Children's Drama ShikaR (Roots)
Presented by Pathsala Bengali school October 12, Sunday, 2:20 PM

Rita, a third generation Bengali, is an all-American girl. She has no idea about her ancestors' country, culture or values.
One day, her Social Studies teacher assigns a project that requires her to research and report on her own roots. Rita has no idea how to do that. She has never been to India. She thinks of Googling but how do you Google "Roots" ?
Narad Muni, who was on a world tour at that time, comes to know of her plight and takes pity on her. Rita is magically transported to the times of three great Indian personalities one by one - Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi and Sri Chaitanya. She gets a taste of how they lived and how they influenced the people around them.
However, when she is transported to modern Kolkata, Narad warns her that most of the values preached by these great men have left the current generation. But Rita still manages to find some hope in the current generation of Bengalees.
